Hello and welcome to my blog, which was borne out of a solo road trip across country that somehow led friends and family to envision me trussed and stuffed into the trunk of a 1989 Cadillac outside of Paducah. To reassure them, I sent a daily email with photographs and narrative, and then found I rather enjoyed documenting my adventures. And who doesn't love a soapbox? After I'd returned, I'd rummage around in my head and life happenings to find topics that seemed worthy of a three minute read, and was happy for an excuse to take photographs that illustrated whatever it is that needing illustrating. The name of this blog came to me when I envisioned myself in a small, white rental car, driving west on Route 80 in February.
It's my belief that there's more connecting each of us than keeping us apart, and hope that reading any of my posts, well, I suppose touches you in some way. As the years go by and I worry less about managing a career or family, there seems to be more time to think about bigger questions that impact all of us. I do love to go to new places, whether literally or emotionally. It could be on the other side of the globe, a right turn down an alley in which I've not yet wandered, or talking to someone who has a viewpoint very different than mine. I feel very lucky to be able to say that I live part of the year in Boston, USA, and part of the year in Aix-en-Provence, France. The photograph above was taken by my friend Erica after we'd had a perfect seafood lunch on the harbor of Cassis and then wandered over to Les Calanque for a bit. It was one of those perfect days. I hope you enjoy my ramblings. |
